How Split PDF works in your browser
The document is parsed in your browser and the pages you select are copied into a new PDF, along with the fonts and images those pages depend on. Pages you do not select are simply not copied, so nothing from them remains in the output.
That last point matters if you are splitting a document to remove sensitive pages. Unlike drawing a black box over content — which leaves the text underneath, selectable and searchable — extracting a page range produces a file that genuinely does not contain the other pages.
The original file on your disk is never modified. The result is a new download, and you keep the source exactly as it was.
